Mialee is a Nelven rogue specializing in subterfuge and stealth and uses her abilities to benefit those in need. She is skilled in thievery, hand-to-hand combat, lock-picking, and other talents that make her an excellent agent of shadows.

 

She received her iconic moniker "the Jade Shadow" because of her notorious Emerald garb. She often works as a bounty hunter, taking jobs with high-profile targets where her ability to extract or remove a specific individual from a location is her strong suit.

 

Mialee was the daughter of an emerald miner, raised by her father after the two left Phyreno when her mother disappeared. Mialee's mother was taken by slavers at a young age, and alone, he offered her the best life that he was able to afterward.

 

The inland town they arrived in was first and foremost a mining community, offering little else in the way of culture. Days were spent scouring the mountainous caves and mines for the rare emeralds found there. This was the only work for adults; children were often put to washing and sifting stations along the entrances of the mines.

 

His sleight of hand skills and cunning were how he transported emeralds out of the mines and offered them to Squirk traders for food and supplies. It wasn't much, but it was the best he could do for his daughter. Eventually, her father's sticky fingers were noticed, and he went to prison for theft, leaving Mialee alone to fend for herself. She traded everything she had to catch a ride on a Squirk Airship to escape being orphaned or enslaved by the miners, believing she could get help for her father outside of her small town.

 

Before she had her chance to return, her father passed away from the harsh conditions of the prison. Blaming herself for abandoning her father and for his death, in her blind rage and resentment, she swore to get revenge on the guards who imprisoned her father. She sought to learn the skills to exact her revenge through the Assassin’s Guild. During this time, she met Grigor, another orphan who had joined the Assassin's Guild and taught her his extensive knowledge of poisons.

 

After becoming exceptionally trained by assassins, Mialee's first mark and test to join the guild forever was to kill the person who caused her to kill: the guard who caught her father. After stalking her foe for days, she reached for her dagger from her Emerald garb and confronted the man. He revealed that it wasn’t her father stealing; he was reporting that night, it was the man trying to kill him, "Grigor."

 

Mialee confronted Grigor, and he revealed that he had tried to kill her father that night and was caught by the guard instead. He exposed her father as a thief instead of killing him, thinking that this would remove him from Mialee's life anyway. Grigor explained he did it because he viewed her father as a weakness that prevented her from reaching her full potential as an assassin.

 

She immediately abandoned the mark and left the Assassin's Guild. Afterwards, she chose to use her abilities to assist others, rather than solely become an instrument of death. The Emerald garb separates her from the other Nelven Assassins but is truly in homage to her home and family, the Emerald Mines, where her path began.

 

Mialee has dedicated her skills and purpose to helping those in need; however, she is able. Often sharing her bounty earnings with the less fortunate, the Jade Shadow became a symbol of hope to the less fortunate of Havokk.
